The Best Chicken Tacos I've Ever Made
This is a recipe I’ve been playing around with in my head for the past week, and I finally decided that it was time to make it. It’s one of the most simplistic things I’ve cooked in a while, but it was incredible how much flavor was packed into the dish.
Grilled Chicken Tacos Time: 24 hours
Ingredients:
1.5-2 lbs chicken (breasts or thighs work best)
Tortillas
1 medium...
Many of you may have noticed that the common vein running through most of my recipes are that they are designed for people who want to eat well, with a large variety of foods, but don’t necessarily have the financial means of eating the stereotypical organic Whole Foodsy sort of dishes which have come to be associated with eating well today. For some people (a truly unfortunate and alarming...

Eric's Impromptu Kasseler
I’m not going to lie, I’m addicted to smoking, and no it’s not what you think. A combination grill/smoker was the first purchase Jenny and I made when we moved into our new town home, as we finally had a back deck and outdoor space to accommodate our mutual love of cooking and eating outdoors. Getting that smoker felt like being a five year old on Christmas all over again, as I...

Yet another recipe of desperation
Alright, so I’m going to take a break from the recent maelstrom of Republican fueled political insanity to bequeath a recipe upon ye folk of tumblrland. This recipe comes from a combination of a nearly empty fridge and pantry and my genius caliber improvisation skills.
I highly recommend using a cast iron skillet if you have one. If not improvise with a non stick skillet and baking dish.

Revolutions, Republicans, and Budget Cuts...Oh My!
It seems like everything’s been in a flux lately, and I feel the compulsive need to muse on it.
As someone with an extensive historical background and a keen interest in the international, the recent events in the Middle East have really been gripping for me. It’s not everyday that one country, much less an entire region, is able to come together and demand an all around betterment of...

Playing Catchup
Alright, so I know I promised an update a while ago, which I completely fell through on. But, hey, I’m going to give this one the good old college try. Let’s start from the beginning, as the last time I put up a truly comprehensive post was…Julyish?
So, the first semester of graduate school was an odd combination of great highs and lows. For starters the kids in my program are...

Annnnd We're Back
Ok, so I know that I’ve been neglectful of Tumblrland for the past 5 months or so, but I’m going to try and rectify that. I’ll write a longer update later, but I wanted to start off with something short and sweet, a recipe.
Tonight I made a honey glazed pork roast with fried apples, it turned out really well, so I thought I would share the recipe. Also, it’s pretty easy,...

The Hypocrisy Continues →
This is an article written by a Jesuit priest rebutting Glenn Beck’s claims that embracing the Christian values of helping the poor and rejecting worldly wealth in favor of helping the less fortunate is Marxist. Now, I’m really confused as to why he would try to be alienating Christians at large, especially since the religious right is his primary support base. But then again, I have...

My friend Lauren showed me this first. This is one the most rational, level headed, and appropriate responses to the “issue” of the Islamic Center in Manhattan. I request that you please watch this, at the very least it will make you think.
Eric's Cilantro Lime Pork Tacos
So, I thought that I would divert from my historical rantings and ravings for a bit to share a recipe with you that I’ve made a few times over the past couple of months. It’s relatively easy, so really anyone can make them.
Serves 3-4, but recipe can be expanded as needed. Serve with Spanish rice and refried beans.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs boneless pork chops 1 tablespoon garlic...

I spent a large chunk of this past weekend in the car, doing the roughly sixteen hours it takes to get from Columbus to Washington, and back again. I was listening to NPR yesterday while venturing through West Virginia, when an interesting piece came on. A political analyzer came on to present a piece on how the modern news cycle has essentially killed civility in political discourse, in...
Well, I guess this is it
Well, in case any of you haven’t been informed yet, I’ll be leaving Ohio for Washington DC next week. All in all I’m pretty excited about it, I mean it’s the beginning of a whole new stage in my life, and in a whole new place. Washington is without a doubt one of the most exciting and important places in the country if not the world, and I’ll be smack in the middle of...

I hate finals...
Here I am studying for my second to last quarter of final examinations, and one pervading thought keeps nagging at me…What’s the point of all of this? Final examinations are an exceptionally poor way of gauging retention and understanding of materials learned, due to the simple fact that they attempt an information overload. Now granted I’m a humanities kid, so maybe I’m...

Oh the joys of history...
So, I should be writing a history paper on the comparison of gender roles in Islam as compared between 1001 Arabian Nights and Guests of the Sheik an ethnography of a 1950’s Iraqi village, but as per my usual I’m dragging it out bit by excruciating bit. I should be done tomorrow morning at this rate. It’s alright I have a legally binding trademark on history papers and all...

Hi Everyone,
I’m starting this blog as an outlet for my ramblings and musings of the world as well as anything I may find which happens to tickle my fancy so to speak.
About me, I’m a senior at the Ohio State University majoring in European History and German. I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio and therefore love Skyline Chili with a reverence which is paralleled by that which those...
